MEET MORGAN

Morgan Lamandre (Lah-mahn-dray) is running for the Louisiana House of Representatives, District 66. As an attorney, wife, and mother of two young boys, Morgan knows firsthand how to achieve real progress through a unique balance of resourcefulness and collaboration.

Morgan was born and raised in New Orleans by a single mom and attended Archbishop Chapelle High School. During her senior year, she met Jeremy Bergeron, the man she would eventually marry.

Morgan moved to Baton Rouge in 2002 to attend Louisiana State University as a TOPS recipient, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2006. She returned to school in 2008 as a part-time student at Southern University Law Center.

During her time at Southern, Morgan served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Race, Gender, and Poverty. She also worked full-time at the Capital Area Family Violence Intervention Center (now Iris Domestic Violence Center) during her years in law school. Morgan earned her Juris Doctorate in 2012.

In 2013, Morgan pursued her dream of launching a specialized legal program for survivors of sexual violence by beginning work at Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response (STAR), a local nonprofit organization serving survivors of sexual violence. Through her dedicated work at STAR, Morgan launched a legal services program for survivors in 2015, where she currently serves as the Legal Director for the organization.

In 2015, Morgan began working to improve legislative issues affecting survivors of sexual violence in Louisiana. For the past several years, she has built connections with policymakers and state legislators to craft and pass meaningful legislation that will have a lasting impact on services for sexual abuse and assault survivors. This legislative work inspired Morgan to become more active in following issues affecting our state, ultimately leading her to run for office.

If you are ready to change your community, then get out and VOTE on October 12, 2019 for Morgan Lamandre, candidate for Louisiana House of Representatives District 66.
